Apologies if there is already a thread to thank a policeman/person. Even if they might never read it.
I live on a one way street and this morning there was a low loader collecting a car blocking the road, normally if I see the road will be blocked for a while I just reverse onto the main road, carefully, and head off but today there was a police van further down the road. I didn't want to perform my illegal reverse manoeuvre in case I was called up on it so wandered down to the van and politely asked if it was alright to reverse, the copper said "I don't know how long the truck will be, I'll go and ask him" I said "no don't worry" hoping he would then say yeah just reverse, but he said "It's no trouble" and drove up to the truck, then he reversed down the street and onto the main road blocking the side I needed so I could safely proceed.

The lady in the cafe gave me a sandwich after I requested and paid for it.

And the train driver stopped at my station this evening.

Ah come on Eclassy he could have just sat on his arse and done nothing, no payment was offered or received, and I felt like a king.

Feel free to ignore anything Eclassless says. Good to hear a positive story.

Good to see a positive comment about our lovely police force. The cynic in says that the policeman just loved being asked permission though.

Good for the cop but its a shame that the most basic assistance given is now cause for comment and celebration as if its the exception rather than the rule.

It's not. But people (you more and more by the day) are quite happy to criticise the police for the most minor of things, and yes, for the more serious ones too. So what's the issue with someone very occasionally balancing the equation a bit?

Tough crowd in here tonight, I haven't had much dealing with the police and yeah it wasn't a huge favour to ask but the delivery was more than I was asking. I'll get my coat.

It does good to remember there are good and bad in every walk of life. Nice to see a positive thread on here for a change.

A while ago I was "meandering" around a large roundabout in my E63, getting ready to give it the beans down the dual carriageway exit in the outside lane.

In front was an unmarked X5 also entering the outside lane.

As I approached behind him about to cuss as he was ruining my line, a flashing "Police" appeared in his rear window.

Just a couple of times.

I dropped back and we both did the couple of miles to the next island at the allowed speed.

I'm sure he did it to prevent me blasting it off the island.

Proactive policing I thought.

Many moons ago I had a frustrating crawl between Cambridge and the A1 on the marvellous road called that A14...

Once I got to the A1 I set the cruise to 90 leptons or so and commenced Merc attack on slower traffic. Over a longish stretch with a gentle hill behind I noticed a car profile that looked suspiciously like a Range Rover with lights on. I knocked cruise off and slowed.

Mr Policeman drew alongside, pointed at me and waved a finger... He knew and I knew...

We then proceeded at a 70mph convoy to Peterborough. He waved as he left the motorway.

He made his point and we all smiled at the end of it. It was nice smile

Rubbish - didnt make any criticism at all - this kind of help wouldnt have even warranted a mention years ago - hardly a big deal seeing someone out of a side turning is it??

Years ago there wasn't Social Media and an entitlement culture that enables people like you to criticise Police for breathing. (I know it was so much better during your apparent 'career' ). It might have been a simple interaction, but it makes a change from the usual suspect's constant whining.

It isn't but If you haven't yet worked out in your time spent on internet forums that they are for whingers and haters 99% of the time then you'll never get it.

Couple it together with your obvious coulda, shoulda, woulda outlook then it's easy to see how you come to your conclusions.

I had something similar a couple of years ago, except I was only doing about 74mph, on cruise and with the olds in the car. Never did quite understand what that was all about.
