(inb4 you look like a knob for wearing vans anyway)

Not at all motoring related I am afraid, to do with a pair of shoes. I bought a pair of Vans in America a few months ago for the equivilent of £20 and they developed a hole above the toes, I thought nothing off it, bad luck, and bought another pair from Schuh 4 weeks ago (19th August to be exact) for £45 and today they have developed a hole in the top of them above my toes in the same place!!!

I have just been wearing them out and about, not doing anything extreme at all and am of the opinion if you spend £45 on some shoes they shouldn't be falling apart after 4 weeks. It's not even on a stich line, literally in the middle of the canvas.

Would I be within my right to take them back to the store and expect a refund. I genuinly do not know and thought I'd get opinions before looking like a knob end trying to return them. Obviously I know its not the stores fault as they don't make the shoes so I'm not looking to cause a fuss, I just feel like I've thrown £65 away here.

The thought had crossed my mind, but the toes on my other foot are just as weird and that shoes been fine on both pairs.

Can't offer any knowledge on where returns law stands on this sort of thing but my experience with Schuh is that they are very keen on offering a good customer service so feel that they would try and help as much as possible with the complaint.

No, the two you posted are both for left feet. He'd be better off if one of them was for his right foot.

I've got a few pairs of Vans, the quality isn't up to much and they are splitting down the seams, take them back and see what they will do, be polite/reasonable and I'm sure you'll get a credit note at least.

FWIIW I think Converse are better quality so swap for those.

As long as you can demonstrate a manufacturing defect that was present at point of sale then they will have to offer something.

Look up the remedies for faulty goods udner the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
