It's a 3.0 OM642 320 CDI 2005 with 132k on the clock, its sat on the motorway mosts if life and has been remapped most of its life.

Just failed mot on smoke test, if the car is left to idle for 5 mins it does this, drive it for 2 mins it clears out until left again for 5 mins at idle

No mpg lost, no oil lost, no performance lost, no engine noises, no play in turbo shaft.

I'm doing a 4k road trip around Scandinavia in 3 weeks, so i need to get this fixed and fast!

Thanks

If that smells like diesel, that is because it is unburnt diesel, if not it is probably steam, so either way, probably not.

I would be having a compression test done, getting the injectors checked out, checking there is no fuel in the oil if it smells like diesel.

I am guessing it won't be steam, as if it was, you would be having overheating/CHG type symptoms which you would be mentioning.

Very hard to say oil or diesel smell if i'm honest, but i'd sway towards oil, it does linger not like a water vapour

Just ordered up a injector spill kit and some of that Liqui Moly Diesel Purge, it can't hurt to try it

If everything comes back ok, I might have to choice but to pull the turbo.......... frown

Has it had the DPF removed?

That can sometimes cause a white smoke.

If it was oil it would be blue/grey rather than white smoke.

Fitted and coded earlier, need to run it up and get some miles on her, but so far so good except for the very heavy bill!

Luckily I can do this myself and have a mercedes star machine to hand otherwise it possibly could of wrote the car off.
