Don't see many of them blowing up. Porsche know it's their best engine

The Mezger engine will be used in 2016 too.

What more needs to be said?

They have developed race versions of the new engine. I know that there have been issues but for credibility alone surely they must run the unit in some motorsport platform. I understand that in FIA /AMLM events a turbo may be beneficial going forward but they make their own rules up for Catrrera cup so that argument can't be used for their own series.

It's good, but it's not quite Carling...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, for full "hairs standing up on tech back of your neck" it just has to be a manual, with that little pause you get between gears...

Steve as you know we ran the 964 RSR , 993 RSR and the 993 GT2R all with no silencers ...... just straight through pipes at the Classics and the best was the 64RSR ..... unbelievable the noise was ear splitting at full revs ..... have footage will post

Steve

Where are these new race engines? Have they been raced or just tested? Why aren't they using them?

Whatever was in one of the Manthey RSR's at Le Mans this year managed to let go quite spectacularly.

I'd like to see that.

Just watched the vid again of the 991 RSR / Cup. Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! Focus / progress is deffo on transmissions rather than engines ?

Had heard something unusual from raeder/manthey when there a few weeks ago. Perhaps something lost in translation from a friend whose first language isn't english but he mentioned per the short presentation and q/a session there that the 2016 Cup would very likely not be the new engine (as per the GT3-R) but the old mezger. And even more strangely while the new engine was definitely a DFI engine he was strongly under the impression it was not going to be the 991RS engine either... Will ask further when back there next week anyway.
