This topic has come up again but I've added this thread so that the title will come up on a search in the future.

How about these??

From here: - www.quadconversions.com/ These have been discussed by myself and others before me and I've looked into the fitment and the panel requires some of the width to be removed because the Escort is wider. It is a possibility but a bit expensive to start cutting up! PS They also make a panel with ordinary round lights fitted (instead of LED type) and this one is a fair bit cheaper and will probably look better on an S. It's not shown on their website, you'd have to give them a call.

The ordinary lights (non-LED) look very similar to the ones they make for the Honda Civic, for an example look here:-

I have ordered the round rear lights with the LED Chrome surrounds from my link, Overall size is 95mm. Only problem is I gonna have to fit a fog & rev light lower down, maybe recess then into panel under where my bumper used to be. Decided to leave the number plate where it is. Garage is full of sanding dust again. Will post some pics when(IF)i get it done

Hi Tony,

I guess you are cutting out the original recesses and fibreglassing the area flat to fit the new lights flush/slightly proud?

Could you fit two small lamps under where the usual number plate is..? Got for Sagaris style little round lamps..? - Sat below the number plate, but above the exhaust..?

Another option is to fit three lights on either side. the lights only measure 95mm so plenty of room. Not sure on this bit tho Wots anyboby think, too much?

If I go down the road of flushing in the rear panel and fitting surface mounted round units, I'd look at the combination type lights that give you stop/tail, and indicators and have a matching diameter fog and reverse light, so 3 lights each side.

Must say I can't understand way anyone should want to bastardise the rear end of an S with these? It's not as though the rear of the S is ugly, in fact it’s probably one of the neatest designed TVR rears. Is changing rear lights an obsession these days? Rich... (all IMO of course)

IMHO the use of the escort lights was a bastardisation of the S but large rear light clusters were in vogue in the late '80s and early '90's. I think TVR should have used a light unit from something a little less well known than a Ford Escort, just one look at them and they scream "borrowed from the Uncle Henry parts bin".

I don't think we're after the Lexus look here just for the sake of "modding", some of us just prefer something a little more contemporary and in keeping with the roadster shape of the car.

Well as the S had them right from the begining I don't see that as a bastardisation, simply not to your taste. In any case TVRs are famous for having upsde-down rear lamps. of course it all started with the Cortina Ban-the-Bomb lights on the 60's Tuscan and continued with the S, Chimaera and Griffith. Rich...

Cerbera has upside down Fiesta lights, is that a bastardisation, or are all you new owners better at desinging cars than John Ravenscroft et al.

All of which remained 100% original and yes, whilst not quite MW I do NOT think those lights are an inprovement on the original design.

Keiran, I was just pulling your leg

I guess the lights are not to everyones taste and they (like I) feel they should have been a little more in keeping with the style of the car and others such as yourself are more purist and wouldn't like to spoil the originality of the cars design.

So, what do you think of the guys who change their headlights on the Cerbera and the Chimera to the very modern twin lights?

Indifferent myself, but don't forget the Cerbera was built by TVR with those lights, although the Chimaera wasn't. Rich...

Seems I opened a can of worms. Seeing as my car is not in concours condition. Braided lines, chimera wheels, AVO shocks, stainless fuel tank, polli bushes, all of which are a VAST improvement on TVRs original fittings. Changing the rear lights to my own taste and better than origanal(IMHO) does not put me in the MAX WxxxER bracket. Maybe we all should still have the original crap suspension, brakes etc because thats how TVR built them.

Or maybe if I was in another world I could go out and spend £30k plus, on a car that has everything I want already on it.
