A friend came round yesterday and stripped the forks off, and stripped one of the legs right down so that I can send my bent forktube off to be straightened. It should all be back together in a couple of weeks and then its just a case of sorting out all the paperwork - then I should be back on the road.

Can't wait!

Bung some firmer aftermarket springs & nice fresh oil in there when it goes back together, will make a massive diference over the standard wallowamatic set up & the springs are pretty cheap.

You will of course after that, then to get want a decent rear shock to match, but hey you'll have a much better handling bike tho

Hi Alex,

Tempted to do just that, but think ill just put slightly thicker oil in - as you say, ill then want a better rear shock and it doesn't seem worth spending any cash on a written off bike as I'll never see any of it again when I come to sell it!

It is a good suggestion though, and if my bike handled like yours id be far happier, but its all about money really!

Insurance are still wrangling mate. Bike was written off but we've only today got a liability offer - 75/25 in THEIR favour!

My solicitor has rejected the offer, so it may well go to court now.

How the hell did they come up with 75% your fault? Is there an accident report explaining their reasoning?

Theyre incompetent mate, basically. My solicitor is hoping that once he files proceedings, it'll pass to a solicitor who will hopefully know his backside from his elbow!

Yeh dave I know what you mean about the ££, but have a think about it, firmer springs are not much- somat like £70 from memory- mine are from progressive, but you can even get Ohlins jobbies for a similar price & how cool would that be rear shock/spring for somat like a Hagon adjustable is around £250 or so, tho at shows etc you can get em lower- a mate paid £220.

So ok a few quid, but hardly silly amounts & the result is a far far far improved bike- oh get some flat bars too, you could sell the Hagon shock on seperatly when you sell the bike if you wished & should get say £150 for it.

Depends what you want to do with the bike really I guess.

Thanks Alex. I'll definately get some flat bars, but still not sure about the shocks. I still don't know if it will pass an MOT - the assessor said there was no structural damage, but then he also said the forks werent bent - and they are!!
