Cheap Photoshop CS
Discussion
Question for CS & D70 users out there. Mrs CVP has decided she now wants to try shooting NEF files on her D70 rather than JPEG's. We're using Elements 2.0 and it loads my NEF files ok (D100) but not hers.
I looked back on the forums for the link to cheap P'shop CS on ebay. Is this really legitimate software???
I know when I got my MS Office for home I had to call up to get the activation coding. My worry is if CS is similar and the original version has already been registered then we've just blown cash and got done over. Don't really want to purchase a full copy of CS asd it's way way too expensive to justify for the amount of use I'd give it.
Alternatively, do you know if Elements 3 allows the use of D70 NEF files. Can't seem to find confirmation of this on the adobe site.
Cheers
Chris

I only use the Nikon software to view NEF files as it allows you to alter white balance & exposure during the jpeg creation process - can't see any other reason to shoot RAW other than the extra processing control it gives you over the file? I believe that you can get a plugin for PS7 which allows viewing of NEF files, but still doesn't allow you to change w/b or exposure .

When I go to open my .NEF files in PS Elements 2 I get exposure and WB options before getting the full screen image.

Nope. I was refunded my money by the seller after it was delivered and clearly was not legit.
Elements 3 can handle d70 NEF files, so you might consider going that route.

Cool! Never knew those options were incorporated with the NEF plugin. I use it a lot so I can digitally bracket images.

Caveat - mine's a D100. We've tried Mrs CVP's D70 and can't get her images to open with it. She's taken a few and we've had to open them in Nikon Capture and then take them across into PS once converted. Our version of Nikon Capture also has this nasty habit of crashing on a regular basis.
Looks like Elements 3 might be the best answer in the short / medium term.
Cheers all for the info.
