Testament to how strong they make the chassis on these cars; the shell is still very ridged.

The shell will have a multi point cage welded in that's why it's still rigid as the safety cell did it's job, if that was a stock shell it would have been a different story. None of the wheels came off though which was surprising.

Amazing how quick it all happened on the in car cam.

It's possibly not only the cage - it is fairly common practice on race/rally cars to fully weld the chassis seams, rather than rely on (often meagre) robot welds alone.

(Previous to joining us this year, one of our welders used to work on a production line correcting missed/botched robot welds for a very large OEM.)
