On Sunday I reached another milestone and completed my first half marathon biggrin

At the age of 40 and 19 stone (this is coming down all the time) I hobbled around in just over 3 hours. I was originally hoping to hit 2.5 but lost the last 5 weeks of training due to the illness and death of my mother in law (followed by funeral planning, house clearance etc.) - but as someone said to me at the time, it may be slow but I have a PB for a half marathon and a lot of people can't claim one of those

Next challenge is another half in March (I fancy doing Silverstone) and then looking to do a triathlon next year

Feeling smug and pretty proud of the achievement tbh. Two years ago I was a sedentary 22.5 stone type 2 diabetic on 20 a day so, although I still have weight to lose, I am happy with the progress that I have made. I am 3.5 stone lighter, no longer smoke and have my diabetes under control by diet alone biggrin

Thats a great effort!

Think I need to look at doing similar myself, unless I'm training for something I put on weight.....I'm currently near the too if the bell curve!

A Half Marathon would be a great target i think....could even get the GF involved....

What a fantastic effort. No one can take that away from you.

The PB gives you something to aim for next time. You're going to be thrilled when you beat it!

Exactly my thinking. I was disappointed at first but this just gives me more motivation now that I have thought about it biggrin

On top of the missed training I was actually in A & E having my leg x-rayed last Saturday after a knock at rugby so all in all I have to be happy that I completed it

Top effort, you'll need to change your username at this rate!!

You should apply for the next race 10km or more in your local area...So you can compare with the half marathon time and ensure that you don't sit on your ass waiting for the next challenge smile
