Well, after 9 years I now have a gap in the garage where once rested 3 beautiful creatures (not all at once). After a DB7, a 4.3 Vantage and a Vantage S I have decided to call time on Aston ownership.
Despite the various comments my decision to do this terrible thing was entirely my own.(no influence from the one I love.. honest!) I always felt like a kid on Christmas morning every time I drove the cars I've owned, managing to do 6k trouble free miles in the "S". And yes, I did get the admiring glances and smiles and thumb's up from schoolboys.
I (we) have made lots of new friends over the past few years.. always admiring each others Astons and many topics of discussion... often nothing to do with cars.
I've passed my car over to a new owner who I know will value her and hopefully keep her looking as good as when she drove out of my road. She now lives in Lancashire so keep you eye out for a beautiful Vantage S in Casino Royale.
After meeting Tony Hall at "Just Jane" and moving his Vanquish there was really no where more I wanted to go.
I still have 2 nice cars I can drive so life will still go on......for now.

There's no other Aston model that would stir the flame within? That's a shame.

It was great to meet you at Burghley last year. Your car was really stunning. Hopefully you'll be back in time, Paul

Thanks Paul, good to meet you and your good lady too.....I did look at a couple of V12's earlier this year....probably influenced by yours at Burghley. I'll be there next year... but not with an Aston Martin.

Andy you'll have had the shakes set in well before Burghley next year let me tell you………..yes

Shame you've decided on charge but after 9 years there's always different avenues to explore so I wish you well and will no doubt catch both you and Kim up shortly for dinner….smile

All the very best and see you both soon, keep an eye out for a pm as I need to get to the bottom of this HALL induced desertion over a Curry…………..thumbup

You let him north of the M25 just the once and this is the havoc he causes with the natives………..rolleyes

He'll probably be pleased to advise you that you should have bought a Vanquish mind……...biggrin

Having owned a Vantage for a couple of years (I was only meant to have it for one) - I wondered where you go from Aston ownership? I know there are cars out there but for me anything other than an Aston is a step down?

I think that is a real issue. The history, the brand, the beauty of the cars, the lovely public reaction -it gets into your bloodstream, in a way that I never thought it would when I bought my DB9 5 years ago. I do understand a little those that decide to try out McLaren, as perhaps the only other marque that comes close (Ferrari would have been ok if they had stopped at the 355).

But personally whenever I think of selling either my classic or modern AM, its always "ah if i sell it I could buy a DB6 volante/DBS manual/V12VR/Rapide" (delete as appropriate depending on mood). I think I must have been brainwashed somewhere along the way...
