If, like many, you are fed up with the long since outdated functionality of your 987/997 PCM unit - have a gander here:

http://www.dynavinstore.com/store/shop/porsche-ser...

Just came across them - OEM look and fit, latest connectivity, and integrates seemlessly with your Bose etc

If I had one of the older PCM's I think I'd definitely be interested. idea

Yes, there would be a much larger number of cars to target if they included 996 and 986 models as well.

Why do they use round buttons ?? - All the other original buttons are square....it looks odd and aftermarket..

Prefer the Cayenne one.

I have the Cayenne one in my 03 Turbo.

After 3 years putting up with PCM2 in my 996 C4S (even with Denison link), I made it my first change when I swapped out for the Cayenne. The Navigation is light years ahead and such a nice step forward - a novelty to be able to use postcodes. The rest of the set up is pretty good too and really is plug and play. Very happy

I have had lots of problems with PCM3 in the Cayenne. Can i not simply put in the PCM4 of the newer car into it rather than go aftermarket?

Our Cayenne is in a weird batch of cars that will not accept a full postcode update to the satnav. I also don't have DAB radio and have just got a new iPhone and it won't sync!

I just got a quote for a universal audio interface retrofit for pcm 3.0 in a Cayman ( I get full postcode on pcm 3??), and it was explicitly stated that it doesn't work for anything after iphone5. Didn't say when / if it would either. Haven't progressed yet as I'm awaiting a requote, if I find anything out I'll let you know.

I feel well out of the loop here.

Whats is this 'Cayenne' Solution you speak of ?
Sorry - re-read my earlier post and can see it could be misleading. I swapped my 996 for a Cayenne Turbo and when I did this, I upgraded the PCM in the Cayenne to a Dynavin Headunit - as per the original link. I believe they only make the replacements for Boxster/Cayman and for the Cayenne, with no option for the 996...

Not sure of my 996 head unit sizes, but they do appear to have regular DIN and DOUBLE DIN sized units available that may fit? (See models 6201, 6205 under \headunits).

Otherwise I'd drop them a line as there may be a work around. I'd be surprised if they're not already working on a 986/996 model to be fair.

Works fine just needs an adaptor from 30 pin to lightening

Would be nice to have a plug and play alternative for the 996 - current unit shows its age...

ok here's the feedback from Dynavin chaps - looks like you'll have to wait for a model specific to the 996/986 - I have let the guy know that there is arguably MORE demand for these vehicles than for 997/987...he's happy to receive additional questions re specific models.

The N6-PS will fit the 986 from 2006-2008 (EDIT: he means 987 here) or any model with the PCM 2.0, 2.1, CDR24 and CDR30. Unfortunately we are unaware of any plans to develop a unit for the 996 at this moment in time although things are always subject to change depending on demand from the global markets.

Please feel free to fire over any questions you may have about the units or compatibility.

Many Thanks,
James
