Updating GPS for PCM 2.1
Discussion
Hi guys,
I think this is probably an old topic so forgive me if i'm repeating (im a bit new). I have a gen 1 987 Cayman (2008) with the 2.1 PCM unit and the sat nav is clearly quite a bit out of date on many UK roads. I have spoke to my local Porsche dealer who wanted £350 for the post code update (and I think upgrading the system to 7 digit postcode functionality) which seemed a bit steep. My understanding was that this was a set of discs that need to be installed in the head unit - is it possible to buy these second hand and do it myself or is this not sensible? I think the majority of the cost (c.£250) was the discs themselves and the balance labour as they seemed to think it would only take about 30 minutes. If anyone has any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Many thanks!

I have been told by porsche you don't need to change the unit so it can be fixed with the update. Im a little more focused on the map update (as its taking me on pretty unintelligent routes!) to be honest but that would be a bonus. Some simple searches online suggest the discs can be bought for about 40 quid but just not sure if that is sensible/risky!

Input the postcode at TOWN
