Ok, perhaps not in the right forum, but I've got a 106 XSi that I've owned on and off since 1995. It's been on and off sorn and finally taken off the road about 7 years ago with HGF.
Long and short of it is my local indy has fixed the HGF and it now starts and runs. However it needs a bit more work to get road legal.
Current thinking is to get them to do the welding required, and replace the brakelines. That gets it mobile. Insure it and drive it back from the MOT test (about a mile).
Then I can replace the drop links, track rod ends and investigate why the handbrake only works on one side.
Then I can get new tyres and the wheels refurbished. That should keep me busy over the winter, along with general undersealing and rust treatment.
Finally run back up to the garage for the MOT test in the new year.
This spreads the cost out, breaks the work down into manageable chunks. Does this sound a sensible way to proceed?
