Funeral home have sent me a form to fill in to cover sundries not covered by gran's certified bonded pre paid funeral.

Item: 1 limousine to follow hears, cost £180. Form prefilled with helpful little post its showing where to sign. Just checked the hand completed, signed and dated bond showing paid in full, including limousine. Mum very upset, i'm fking furious.

Is this a normal tactic? Anyone else had this sort of thing?

Sounds like an honest mistake.

I'd take it up with them and expect them to apologise.

I really, really hope so. The cynic in me feels like it isn't though.

Closest I've come to that scenario is the following two occasions....

1. Cat died, insurance co sent cheque for vet fees towards the end of the month, insurance company still took DD on the first.

One phone call, apology, refund.

2. Car booked for service with payment plan in place. Garage said that will be £199 please, I said I think I have a payment plan for this vehicle to cover this service.

Oops, apology, no charge.

I understand you're upset, but if one phone call doesn't resolve it, I'd be surprised.

Mrs gus607's gran died earlier this year. Funeral plan in place for over twenty years. Funeral arrangments made for interment in family plot. So far so good.

Headstone removed when plot opened & taken to stonemason's for safe keeping ? Told headstone to be re-sited six months after the funeral service to give the ground time to settle.

Call made to undertakers six months later, ah yes will be £70 to re-site headstone, oh no it won't this cost is in funeral plan, can't find headstone etc was told.

After a lot of arguing the original headstone miraculously appeared ! at no cost to us. This was after several attempts to flog a new headstone.

A mate of mine's dad died & he was charged £70 for the undertaker to collect the ashes from the crem & take back to the undertakers. The undertakers are at the crem several times a day too, they never tell you that you can collect the ashes yourself

Undertakers are thieving, robbing scum.

While you have a couple of instances where they haven't behaved appropriately it seems a little strong to draw that final conclusion.

Personally - in mid-July 2014, after my second wife's funeral.

Your original comment (in reply to gus607, from memory) was inappropriate (and I am being diplomatic smile ).
