I suck at MGS

So I'm an avid gamer to say the least. I tend to play all types of games and have built strong bonds with things ranging from COD WAW to an old Indiana Jones thing on the original xbox.

But f**k me I have never struggled with a game as much as I have with MGS. I couldn't even get past the first bit on Ground Zero!

I've got mates that swear by the game but I struggle to see the appeal? What is it I am missing, aside from generally being sh*t at it?

If you're playing it like Halo you're going to be dead very quickly and frequently. It's a brilliant game but you have to approach it carefully and that goes for the opening prologue too. It's stealth based to you need to pick your moment to move and shoot only when you want to get shot at.

To give you an idea I'm about 15% into the game and have logged over 50 hours. A single mission, including the recon (which could be mapping the stronghold, watching the guard movement and changes as well as picking an approach to start the mission) can take 3 hours. But the satisfaction of extracting a prisoner completely unseen and then picking off each guard one by one (or exacting the talented ones for Motherbase) is just wonderful.

Go slow, take your time, imagine what you'd do in that situation and you'll find it much better.
