Purchased a set of volvo mirror covers, sent to hydro to get dipped, results were great and cost less than £100 total including delivery.

I already have a genuine carbon splitter and defuser but couldn't justify the cost for the covers.

Carbon looks great on this colour, nice and subtle.

Looks good - especially for that price. Could you please explain a little about what it looks like "up close and personal" compared to real carbon fibre? Do you have to get very close to spot any difference?

Hi.

You need to be really close and keep staring at the pattern to see the pattern is slightly blurred and not genuine.

My pal was over last night and has a GTR covered in real carbon, I didn't tell him they were carbon dipped and he loved them, never clicked.

I may replace them at some stage with genuine ones just for the sake of it.

I think you'd have to have eyesight problems to think that was real - it would be fine if it weren't for the corner nearest the front IMO. The image is obviously stretched compared to the rest, a common problem with hydro dipping.

Real weave would be uniform across the part.

Fake carbon wouldn't be something I'd fit to an Aston, the car is worthy of the real thing imo...sorry

Yes, lacquer on top.

For the small price, looks great in my opinion, very happy with the results.

Sure...

3004-256 RH
3004-257 LH

I just got mine from Ebay, bought one LH and one RH obviously.

I have always had genuine carbon items on previous cars (current V8V with splitter and defuser) but was really pleased with these dipped versions.

Also bought the following from Ebay which made taking current ones off a piece of cake, took minutes with no damage (broken clips).

Actually, a few months ago on here someone spotted a Volvo Parts Specialist that trialled manufacturing some Volvo Mirror caps that where then overlayed with Carbon Fibre & lacquered for £79.

I managed to get one of the two trial pairs they got manufactured and are fitted to my car.

Hey mate.

Yeah, it was that thread that got me thinking about doing this myself so thanks for the original share.

I used Hydrotek custom coatings for the dip, great job, 60 quid and took a couple weeks.
