Hi all.

My golf club is having a book about its history published for the 125th anniversary. I'm taking the photos and have offered to find out about the printing costs.

Can anyone suggest a printing firm that would print just 400-500 copies of a book please? It will be A4 sized with perhaps 100 pages.

I don't want to go to one of these Photobox type places though.

Thanks all.

Try these guys http://cpibooks.com/uk/about-cpi/about-the-cpi-gro...

Big producer but they offer a 1 to 1 million books service. Digital technology has helped reduce costs of short run books
and I'd be surprised if they can't help.

I worked for them a few years back, they know their stuff.

I used

https://www.lulu.com/ to print a very small quantity for family gifts.

Not sure what their prices would be for your numbers, but worth a look. Was very happy with the quality.

Good morning!

I rate these guys very highly for small to medium runs of high quality output (and the owners are petrol heads).

+1 for CPI.

My mother has written and self-published a few books, including one which eventually sold over 150,000 copies.

CPI now do print on demand for all of them, so an order comes in and a copy is digitally printed the same day and sent out to the customer.

An amazing revolution in publishing.

Print on demand is a boon to publishers, my old MD who ran one of the biggest STM publishers was always worrying about stock levels in the warehouse.

Shame technology can't sort the trade model which is a total joke. I could never get my head around that model.

Interesting, so if you wanted to publish a book and sell via say Amazon, as a complete novice how do you start, and what are the costs?

Fairly easy to set up a seller account on Amazon.

Rather than paying two sets of fees it might make more sense to do short run printing with CPI and fulfil personally when orders arrive.
