Old lambdas...

Does anyone have any opinions on whether it's worth removing the old unused lambdas in the exhaust manifolds and replacing them with blanking plugs?

Mine haven't been used in years (have a Wideband in the y-piece for the CANEMS) and so the old ones are still in place with the probe leads just tied back - I guess I'm just thinking that it might be nice to tidy up the engine bay a little...

Any downsides to doing so?

Just done that to my car. Getting the old ones out is surprisingly difficult. I ended up cutting down an old box spanner to get them out, and with a good dose of plus gas got them out.

purely cosmetic really, as you still leave the old sunken boss in the manifold

I think my Halfwits 'Professional' Vortex through-socket set will allow the cable and connector to fit through them without resorting to slicing open deep sockets so I'm not too worried there and I guess if you can get the manifold hot then that might make it easier to crack them open.

I've seen the bolt-in lambda bungs available and was just thinking that I'd probably use those - as you say, it's just a 'tidying' exercise (and that's my reason for looking at doing it) as the bosses are still there. I guess I *COULD* just cut off the cables which would tidy things up too...

Or you could screw in a couple of old spark plugs, they're almost the correct thread.

Bung an old pair of leads on them and blag your way through TVR meets as you impress people with your bonnet open
