I've got an Accumate battery conditioner sat in the garage. I've been keeping an eye on Ebay for the official AM ones but for what they are, they are silly money. So looking into using this Accumate. Is this going to be ok to use? Just plug into the 12v power socket in the boot, is it as simple as that?

Not sure about your AM or current models but just make sure your battery is compatible.

AGM batteries need an AGM enabled charger.

A compatible CTEK is fine.

I've a 10amp item cracking piece of kit.

Excuse what could be a stupid question, but what is an AGM Battery?

I use a 'normal' battery charger and attach to the positive point under the bonnet and something else metal. Works fine.

I use an Accumate, works fine plugged into the boot socket.

Certainly not vain enough to bankrupt myself for an AM branded one!

Absorbed Glass Matting. Used for high current draw, long life and deep cycle charging. Currently the best battery on the general market in my opinion.

Been in touch with the manufacturers to confirm the suitability of their chargers with Aston Martin - their response, the last line is insteresting.........

Hi Mark,

The OptiMate 6 has a higher maximum output current – 5Amps compared to the 1.2Amps capability of the AccuMate 6/12v, has multistage desulphation/ recovery programs, can provide more detailed test results, and contains the manufacturers trademark Ampmatic processor. The Ampmatic processor allows the charger to assess the batteries specific requirements, decide upon the most efficient way to recover/ charge the battery, and if required automatically adjust its output to exactly match the batteries needs.

The OptiMate 6 passed all tests when we supplied them to Aston Martin for approval, and are now offered to Aston Martin customers as their preferred battery support product.
