Goddamit....just as I thought I was going to get my R8 back on Monday, I now need to track down the security code so that the map can be done on the new engine since the little card with the codes on isn't in the wallet with the other books for the car. Anyone else had to do this - I gather it's a case of going to the Vauxhall dealer with logbook and some i.d. for them to get the code?

Dave
What security code do they need? I had to get a replacement code the other week so I could get a spare key programmed but it did not have the 6 digit immobiliser code as apparently that only comes with the car.

I had to take log book, driving licence and proof of address ( utility bill) and you can go to any dealer as it's sent to vauxhall security.

It's a 4 digit code apparently so that the ecu will let him put a standard map back on the car - that's how I understand it at least.

You should be ok then. Dealers will be able to supply it, if you talk to them they might be able to get a copy faxed over to the dealership so you can get running then send the actual card through as it takes 3-5 working days to get the actual card

I had a similar thing when I wanted a new ignition barrel. Pentagon Derby were pretty good and let them email copies of my documents (driving license, service book first page with VIN, all pages of the V5) and they gave me the codes over the phone while I waited for the card to arrive in the past.

It was called a car pass if I remember rightly.
