Point of decimal time ring on El Primero?
Discussion
Hi all,
Hope you are well. What is the point of the markings inside the tachymeter but outside the main dial area on the early El Primeros and if I'm right, some other chronographs as well?
It looks like decimal time, with 30 seconds or minutes being denoted as '50' or 1/2 of a minute or hour, respectively.
Tachymeter for speed, Telemeter for distance to lightning/explosions etc., Pulsometer for heart rate, why on earth this?

Combined with an accurate (ie not the one on your odometer) trip meter a decimal stopwatch makes for very quick and easy on-the-fly average speed calculations.
Im actually sat here polishing the crystal on a decimal Heuer as I speak.
Right... Thank you very much, I couldn't find that with a Google search, which usually answers more or less anything.Im actually sat here polishing the crystal on a decimal Heuer as I speak.
I suppose it's easier to know 33s as .55 of a minute for mile-a-minute calculations etc.
It'd be lovely to see a photo of your Heuer if you have the time...
