986 'S' or 987 std?

Hi all
Looking at buying a Boxster; can't stretch to a 987S
Have read on a couple of posts from 986S owners having driven a 2.7 987 that there doesn't seem to be a lot in it in terms of grunt (?) Is this the general view??
Whats the PH collective opinion; specifically thinking in terms of resale value and running costs? And of course. the really big factor; overall enjoyment!

I've had the fortune to spend a significant amount of time in both variants of 986 and 987.
In my opinion, the 987 setup just feels far more alive and dynamic - you've also got the much improved interior, more room, PSM as standard, better shift etc etc etc If you can stretch to the sports pack - 6 speed box and PASM, I think you've got a nice package. That will give you a better all round 'driving' experience.
Or what about picking up a used Boxster S 550? Again, in my opinion that is what the 986S should have been!

I *have* a late 986-S.
Its a great car. And its more powerful than the 987 std.
BUT
A new 987 std will come with a two year, full-on, you can't fault it, manufacturer's warranty and all the love and attention from Porsche that you could want. The servicing will be cheap. etc etc.
Buy the 987.
