A mate of mine wants to trade in his 996 C2 for a C4S.
Its a 98 car, 40k miles, clear lenses, sunroof, turbo alloys, sports pack etc etc absolutely mint, new tyres, just serviced & MOT'd etc etc - its really a car that AFN would just have to valet & put on the forecourt. It even had one of their mulit point checks done recently which was all clear.
Anyway, they offered him......£20k !!
I just think thats a joke, esp considering against a C4S at Paragon he was offered £28k which is much more like it. Do AFN actually want to sell any cars ?

IIRC AFN want about £7K margin on a used car.

There again a 98 car is waaaayy out of the ages of car that I've seen AFN selling. I suspect they simply didn't want it and so made a very low offer. I doubt they would put a 98 car on their forecourt - they'd dispose of it to a 2nd tier trader or, more likely, at auction. So they made an offer that they should recover their money on even at auction.

That plus the "One in 10 will say 'go on then'" factor

Sounds about right to me. Paragon must have some margin to play with on their car...

Found a similar car to my mates in the AFN network, except their car is missing clear lenses & a lots of other kit.....£36,995

Blimey!

So. There must be a reason why the offers are so far out. Now AFN charge premium prices for their cars anyway....but £17K margin seems...excessive.

I mean, profit is NOT a dirty word like some owners seem to think, but that seems...unreasonable.

Like I say - for some reason - they cannot want the car.

Why doesn't he sell privately? He's bound to get offered more than £20K!

Yeh thats what he is going to do, or maybe squeeze Paragon for more £.
I can't understand why they dont want the car, it really is a fantastic example - if anyone here is interested then let me know & I can send full details.

Julian,

Just tried to email you but you email is invalid.

A mate of mine only yesterday declared his interest in a C2.... if you've got some pics, please email them to me and I can forward them on. Also where is your mate based? London per chance? A complete spec would be good... 'etc, etc' doesn't say a give a lot away!

I would go for the £28k offer as he's unlikely to get much more than that privately.

As said AFN obviously don't want the car and this could be due to age / colour combination / they've already got similar cars in stock. Having said that some people will take it just because it's the easy option.

Hope he gets a good price for it.

Try julian@bolger2.wanadoo.co.uk

Drop me a line & I will reply with all the details.
Its kinda put him off a bit selling it, he figures that he might run it a little longer & change later in the year, maybe the summer, when prices might rise a little with the better weather, but will check for you.
