987 Cayman S Winter Tyre Options
Discussion
Hi All
I've already got some OEM 18 inch alloys that I want to put some winters on. I have to put N rated Tyres on due to the warranty. That seems to limit me to either the Pirelli W240 Sottozero Serie II or Continental Conti Winter Contact TS 810 Sport. Both are circa £540 for a set via Tyreleader. Anyone have experience of any of these? One particularly better than the other?

There is some stuff on this thread (not particularly helpful0 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... and here http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2014-AutoBild...I've already got some OEM 18 inch alloys that I want to put some winters on. Pirellis come out well - but the results are very much skewed by snow performance - you might well conclude that the Contis are better for you - or the Nokias which are better in the dry. Not sure if N rating is such a big deal if you are going to change in the warm weather.
I'm in the same position as you and would welcome someone analytical information.
Thanks guys. I was thinking of more the fact it might be a pain if I need some warranty work whilst still on non N winters. Like has been said I think either will be streets ahead of summers though. Cmoose, I might think about 17s actually and stick the 18s on eBay. Thanks, I'll do some maths

It does look like fun...my mummy and daddy weren't middle class enough to take me skiing though so I've never done it, that and I'd actually have to exert effort

Back on topic, I think I'm definitely going the winter tyre route, my missus has them on her Cooper S and they were brilliant, admittedly they were skinny high profile jobs so I'm not expecting the same level of security in snow. As long as they work well when it's cold and stop me getting stuck on the rare times it snows I'll be happy.
