Bombardier Global Express - GLEX - Flying Racetracks

[Risky Shift]

I noticed, on my way home tonight, what appeared to be racetrack chem... er... contrails over to the West of Glasgow. I've just been following it on Flightradar and the aircraft is listed as "GLEX", a Bombardier Global Express. Tracking it back seems to indicate that it originated at Cranwell or Coningsby - could this be one of our Sentinel R1s? If so, does anyone have any thoughts on what it could have bene up to in this neck of the woods? Just a training flight?

Concern for what

concern for.... the fact that journos now seem to spend time watching fl24 and reporting anything they don't understand or can pass as an airborn drama. "it dispeared at 3000 feet"....

concern for..... if it was an active mission and the good guys were looking out for bad guys, the bad guys now know the good guys are onto them

often think there is too much information available to the public these days. better off in blissful ignorance

We run flight patterns like that when flight trialling new equipment.

Nothing that unusual as far as I can see.

I didn't think it was an unusual event, per se, as I'm sure these aircraft are around the West Coast on a regular enough basis, it was that it was so noticeable due to the contrails hanging around for so long that piqued my interest.
