Planning the winter project
Discussion
April 2014... MOT passed with advisory that nearside outrigger was going to require attention
April 2015... Didn't even bother with MOT as I knew it would fail... "I'll get it done in the autumn when I've saved some money"
June 2015... Really missed having it at LM2015.
Well I've started looking into it. And I think I've decided that rather than ship it off to someone to strip, replace the outriggers, and return it, for the same money I could probably do the work myself, and get a retrim.
My plan is to commence work on November 6th and have it all buttoned up for early April. That'll be strip and remove the body in month 1, strip the chassis in month2 and have it sand-blasted and welded. Paint and replace components in months 3 and 4, and then replace the body in month 5. Does this all sound feasible...?
I've done some homework in removing the body. Is there any real nuggets of wisdom that anyone could share? Things to look out for - things which I can get now that will help me along the way... that sort of thing....
For those that are interested, it's a '92 Pre-Cat 4.0... I will start a thread when I begin the project, but at the moment I'm spending the next month in prep - clearing the garage, getting some heat in there, etc.

Not sure if there is anything in here that may help you:

A few things, those bolts holding the body to the chassis can be an absolute barst*rd to loosen off and if they shear (as one of mine did) they are a pain but not impossible to drill out later.
Don't forget the two bolts behind the centre console holding the body to the chassis (I did)
The body is surprisingly heavy. I had 4 hefty blokes lifting it at one point and it was a real struggle.
I followed the Edd China tip for the Cerbera and used a 2 post lift to take the body off the chassis. Save you days of pain and hard graft.
I note you are in Berkshire, so am I. If you want to use my 2 post lift you are welcome as long as you trailer the body and chassis away to your newly tidied garage afterwards.
If you want to mail me I am happy to give you my phone number to discuss. Good luck. Pete
It sounds reasonable but I think it depends how much time you have in those months to actually work on the car. There's also the possibility of finding more things you want to do once you've got the body off.
I'm also in Berkshire (Wokingham) so if you need a hand with something drop me a PM
