I thought I’d update two months after buying my V8 Vantage from Mole Valley near Chessington. It wasn’t the car I went in for but seeing it sitting there in the showroom at a relatively affordable price it was too much to resist.

The car had about 35500 miles on it and is an 06 plate in Titanium Silver with Black Leather and red inserts and callipers (which I think really set it off).

Having picked it up I realised the clutch was on the way out as it was very heavy compared to others I’d driven. I also wanted to get it serviced and it was done a few months ago and over the years had ‘missed’ a service due to it being done 13 months here, 15 months here etc. While it was in bits Mike asked if I wanted some 200 cell cats fitted at a good price as the car was already taken apart so I had that done as well as the three-way switch fitted. It also needed a new OSR lower wishbone bush so that was done.

Old and new

New cats

The switch - pulled out a bit so you can see where it goes
Mike also did an ECU remap, which along with the clutch has transformed the way the car drives as well as keeping the look completely standard.
I also had a Denison Gateway fitted and bought an ipod which lives in the glovebox, this works well.

Next planned jobs:

Replace the upper and lower grills as they are tatty
Refurbish the alloys (same reason), contemplating having them coloured anthracite – any thoughts? And recommendations for London wheel refurb?
A decent detailing
New wheel centres
New gear knob – the current one’s stitching isn’t comfortable to use so ideally I’d like alcantara but no idea of cost currently

I bought the car as a fun daily driver which wouldn’t lose money over a few years, I never bought it to change bits on it but I want it perfect now I own it! It’s addictive.

When I picked it up from BR - really pleased with the service from those guys.

I will keep this car now but if I was buying again, I would find one with xenons, the standard lights aren’t great. I thought the car I was buying had them as they look nearly identical and unlike any other halogen lights I’ve ever seen! I stupidly didn’t ask and didn’t turn them on to see. Assumption is the mother of all f*@k ups they say.

Your car looks great and I agree the red calipers do set it off.
I think the alloys look OK as they are as they set off the red calipers, changing to anthracite might dull the effect of the calipers.
I have the same problem with the headlights on my 2006 DB9V there just not good enough.
I've used Autowiz to refurbish the alloys on my wife's Crossfire and I was very satisfied,(there were Aston's in there .)

Said it before and will say it again - these look soooooooooo much better before they started faffing about with exterior addenda.

Nice looking car. Shame about the HIDs - they really screwed the options list trying to get the price down to 85k...

I have to agree with that, I think he original pure shape is beautiful.

I forgot to mention I also changed the rear tyres before they needed it as it had Bridgestones on the back and Contis on the front and it really bugged me so now has sports contact 3/5 all round

I may be biased but I also prefer the pure original shape.
Titanium Silver was the colour I initially wanted, I think it suits the lines beautifully.

Here's mine with anthracite wheels and red callipers...
