Hi all,

I currently have a Disco 4 on the 19 inch wheels and am very pleased with it.

Will be chopping it in in December for another one and like the look of the 20 inch Style 512 wheels.

Question is will they massively affect the ride quality? I do 20,000 miles a year on all roads and quite regularly tow a caravan.

I will go and test drive one with 20's on first but was just after any opinions from others that have experience.

TIA

There is a difference...

...but only you can decide if you like it or not.

Yes, thanks for that.

I was hoping for a bit more info. Is it a much harder/harsher ride?

I have one on 20s after driving plenty on 19s - and if you put me in one and asked me to tell you whether it had 19 or 20" wheels I'd struggle. That said, drive the two back-to-back and you can feel a slight difference - for me the slightly crisper turn-in on 20"s won the day but if you spend your days driving up and down rutted tracks, the 19"s would be marginally more comfortable. Either will be far more comfortable than almost anything else out there, however!

I drove an L322 on 19s for about ten years. I had a number of rims set aside for various events - road driving, winter tyres and MTR fitment etc, usual stuff.
Scratched a few rims, picked up the odd puncture and even gouged a huge chunk out of one of them while chugging about off tarmac. But all remained round.

Chopped the car in for a Sport just over a year ago and have already dented two of its 20" rims on separate occasions without doing anything particularly challenging or using the car differently to the L322. Could just be coincidence and bad luck, but might not.

20" will give a harder ride as there's less sidewall... However, the 20" will feel more responsive, for exactly the same reason.

Depending on what you're like as a driver as to whether you'd notice or not.

Overall, I prefer to run those cars on 19" rims instead of 20"...
...but it's your money, your choice and often when people ask questions like this on forums, they've usually already made their minds up. wink

Genuinely not made my mind up yet, like both to be honest just fancied a change that's all. Don't do huge amounts off road, just a bit here and there so not a huge issue there. The roads around Nailsworth where my office is aren't the smoothest so may stick with the 19's in the end.

Will try one with the 20's and see if I like it. Thanks all.

I ran 20" wheels on my D4 in the summer and 19's with Cole Weather tyres in the winter. As others have said, there is a slight difference however, the car handles a little better on 20's.
