Just spotted a programme on BBC2 Sunday at 8pm.It is billed as Paul Hollywood meets Aston Martin, there is an absolutely dreadful article in the Mail on Line discussing him and his "£90000" DBS Volante beside a picture of his new Vanquish, which also cost him £90000! I must watch this as he has a great eye for a bargain.

Liked the bit where he said he had OCD because he polished his DBS every couple of hours. I thought that was normal! biggrin

But to have him publicly rave over his Aston is always good for the brand...he's just reinforcing what we all like about these machines.

He's a sort of a Cake Porn star Tony that likes his Aston's.

Paddy's got pictures of him all over his bedroom wall apparently…….rolleyes

He's at our local farm shop in a week or so for some sort of cake shindig! He's hit the dizzy heights of stardomsmile That said he does seem like a decent enough bloke and it's nice to see his Astons around the village.

To borrow your adjective Tony and to also paraphrase my wife when she's watching Bake Off, he's a t*sser. Albeit a successful one, granted!

From the article:

Ms Perkins said:
I nicked the key off Paul and we just drove off.

I'd never driven an Aston Martin before. We couldn't turn it on but eventually it went and we drove it into a ditch and had to phone a garage.

Paul had the most spectacular humour failure I've ever seen.

So apart from the DBS, what does he own now? From the Daily Mail:

"The baker has previously admitted he is a big fan of cars and owns an Aston Martin Vantage and a DB9."

And there's a photo of him walking round a Vanquish.

Very confusing.

If he owns a vanquish...he can't be that bad.....still never heard of him....then again would he frequent burger king and macdonalds?

Bet he's thinking along the same lines Tony……….something like,

"If he owns a Kenwood Chef …….he can't be that bad……..still never heard of him……then again would he frequent Hibiscus or Gymkana in Mayfair?."

I don't care what he does for a living or what affair he might have had... all I know is that it's refreshing to hear someone get wildly enthusiastic about Astons instead of playing it cool and having them as status symbols. At one point in the interview he said "'I still pinch myself that I have a second hand Aston Martin..." because this is how I feel now even after owning three of them. Each time I start up my DB9 it brings back my experience as a teenager 50 years ago when I got invited for a ride in the next door neighbour's black DB5, and that powerful memory adds to the whole Aston Martin thrill. I've had many sports cars over the years, from Merc SLs to Bentley Contis, but none give me the same enjoyment as an Aston.

The only thing I take issue with is his surname. Is it real?

I am told he has a catch phrase on his cookery programme. Something about soggy bottoms.

His other Aston Martin connection is racing a Vantage GT4.
Reasonable results too. Think the partner driver has connections with an ice cream maker.
