Expansion tank leak

Hi,
just discovered a pin prick hole on the expansion tank. Is it ok to get welded or should I buy a new one?

Welding should work if you can find someone that can weld aluminium. A replacement tank will cost a fortune

I got someone out of trouble that had a random external deep pit (was leaking) put in a self tapping screw with some sealer lasted 2 years so far obviously a blob of TIG is better but I dont have ally welding facilities and my local machine shop was shut

There's some cold metal epoxy putty stuff about that may do the job well.

Metal epoxy didn't work for very long for me. Used ones are available from the usual breakers, think I paid £50.

Same for me, I tried a couple of times. Even roughing up the surface and using industrial Belzona didn't work. Mine was due to the previous owner using blue/green coolant and then someone had topped the expansion tank up with red coolant. The reaction left about 10 pin holes in the tank.

Thanks chaps.
Took another look at the tank and I don't think it will be long before other holes appear so a replacement it is.
Anyone got one for sale or should I contact the usual breakers?
