mesh grills for two part chimaeras post 97

I would like to buy mesh grills for my 97 chimaera to protect rad from stone damage. My worry when touring abroad is holing rad somewhere and having major problem. Leven have still not come up with this item so can anyone suggest supplier or way to make this up so that it looks good

My griff as a metal grill inside the nose in front of the rad to stop such things. Can be seen. Cost around £4 from B&G

It will need to be detachable. Access to the air filter mainly.

I've seen it done, it's was what gave me the idea to do mine
That was a 'new shape' front end, the car had been retrimed at Aston Martin, couldn't figure out how it was fixed though, it would be easy enough to mastic it in, but changing the air filter would be a pain

i shall be doing this too with something, [mesh from halfwits, as mentioned on another thread used in that chap's vents] and keep it fitted in anything other than the hottest of weather.

WHEN I HAD THE RAD RECORED ON MY 1998 CHIMAERA I TOOK THE OPOTUNITY OF PUTTING WIRE MESH IN FRONT OF THE RAD AS I WAS DOING IT MYSELF.THE MESH I USED WAS A GOLD ALLI MESH FROM BQ ABOUT 7.00.WHEN THE RAD WAS OUT I PUT IT IN FROM THE ENGINE SIDE AND CABLED TIED IT 2 THE F/GLASS SURROUND THEN PUT RAD BACK. IT NOW COVERS THE HOLE RAD AND IS SET BACK IN THE FRONT.LOOKS GREAT

I have just put a new rad back in and I think that if you have two strips of foam wedged between the rad and the pointy end of the car, you can;

a] seal the radiatior surround, thereby directing more air IN THROUGH the rad, and

b] wedge the mesh in between. Easy to get out for an air filter change.

Yet to do it, but judicious use of cable ties not doubt will also help.
