Great show tonight - Carrier Strike Force. HMS Hermes in the 60's. Can't believe how little deck those Sea Vixens used for take-off !

The Royal Navy carriers were quite small for such large aircraft. Watching Buccaneers and Phantoms take off from the likes of Hermes and Ark Royal was pretty spectacular.

Even though Hermes never had operational Phantoms based on her, trials were carried out - proving that it wasn't really suitable.
