Removing 996 rear aero spats......

I know not everyone is a fan of the GT aero package but I am apart from the rear spats fitted.
I've heard it many times over about people planning to remove them and have seen cars with aero kits minus the spats but how exactly are they attached ?
Is it just a case of just unclipping them ?
Do the mount through the bumper or are they literally just stuck on ?
Basically if I was to buy a car with them fitted, what would I have to do to remove them and leave no trace of them being there.

Cannot answer how they are attached, but if you buy the right car and it has them fitted then another rear bumper cover can be bought quite cheaply.
I think the spats were only fitted to the 996.1, in which case you could take the opportunity to fit a 996.2 rear bumper cover which is deeper and would be a better match for the front aero bumper.

I'll be honest I didn't know there was a difference in the rear bumpers from early to late.

These are attached with glue and by bolts through the side of the bumper.
