I have only recently (as in last few months) started to take my training very seriously again.
I am 5ft11 and not powerfully built. I am around 11.6stone IIRC.

I have my workout pretty much on point, I am currently doing Gethin's 12week hardcore and as I used to workout a lot back when I was at college I have the form for the deads and what not spot on.

I never really cared much about diet mind you. Here is a typical day of eating for me.

I have Creatine, BCAAs and then the standard multi vits and fish oils all pre gym. (I workout on an empty stomach foodwise)

Post gym I have a USN anabolic mass gainer with peanut butter, then either porridge with whole meal and fruit or if I'm feeling sick I have toast.

Mid morning I have a larger portion of natural/greek yoghurt with honey and more fruit usually followed by some oat biscuits

For lunch I'll have tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches (bread is bad I know) and some more fruit

Afternoon snack is usually just a banana because I am getting full up

Evening meal is usually a lot of chicken breast, sometimes a cut or two of steak instead or fish (usually salmon or a white fish). Always a whole sweet potato and then plenty of green veg (spinach, broccoli and asparagus) and some hot sauce to add some taste.

And then for the late night snack I have reverse of whatever I didn't have for breakfast so porridge or toast.

I know what food is good and what food is not good but I am pretty sure my diet is all over the shot. I don't eat any fast food or bad food apart from bread.

My evening meal portion is always very large.

I am putting on weight and losing body fat but I just feel like I am doing something wrong so your advice is welcome.

If this is the case, don't change a thing.

I know but I will confess to having no idea about nutrition really. I know the very basics that's why I wanted to check things over.

As a rule of thumb, if it's working, stick with it- don't work about the detail smile Gaining muscle and loosing fat concurrently isn't easy.

Lots of reading on nutrition if you want to be clued up on it- along with loads of conflicting and alternative approaches which will all contradict each other...... that's why the above rule of thumb is handy.

I can tell. The only time bread is bad for you is when someone chucks a crusty loaf off a tall building and it lands on your head.

Oh, those powders are unnecessary. Get your diet on-point first.

Creatine works and worked really well with me when I was at college. Noticed a lot of gains when I used it.
Nothing wrong with vits and fish oil is there?
Everywhere I read I see "TAKE BCAAS!!!!" and the USN is just an alternative protein shake.

That is why I am asking for help because I know it isn't on-point wink

It's more that you're thinking stuff like powders are essential and bread is evil.

Also, did the creatine actually work or was it the fact that you were in your testosteronal prime? Did you do a test without creatine to check it was the creatine?

Didn't do a test but I just remember the differences.

Maybe it is a mental thing but I definitely remember an improvement.

Anyway back OT.

Ditch the powders for a month, make sure you eat what you consider healthy food, see how you get on.

all good advice, get your diet on the money, good mix of different proteins will negate the need for BCAAS, added protein shakes are only really necasary once you attain a lean mass that still requires 200+ grammes of protein a day, i doubt your muscle structure is there yet.

as DD said, you're on the money if your loosing fat but gaining weight / strength, especialy if you feel your diet is way off!

creatine made me a raging nutter for excercise when i was younger, not done any for a very very long time though.

adjusting my macros made a big difference tomy diet, reducin carbs and upping fat and protein to make upto the same kcal intake and i lost weight.

Tom Venuto - burn the fat, feed the muscle

all you need to know about how to change your diet intake to get what you want, incredible read, knowledge you'll never forget.
