Hi folks,

I am currently trying to acquire two catback exhaust systems from Oz, but I am having no luck with the supplier.
I am going through Harrop direct, but the guy has been taking nearly two weeks now to get me price on shipping. I wonder whether he is trying to put me off, and not sell me the bloody thing, or he can't be bothered.
I approached a Harrop dealer, as well as KPM, and both came up with the price straightaway.

Now, seeing that there are more than one Harrop dealers, are there certain cities / states in Oz that it is cheaper to send a parcel from? Also, would I be liable for duty and VAT on the shipping that I organise, and pay for in GBP from here in the UK?

Thanks

If you organise it and pay from the UK, you'd be paying VAT on that part anyway.

And yes you will be liable for import duties too

They'll screw you no matter what way you do it.

I see, so the shipping cost paid here would obviously be inclusive of VAT... Great...

The RRP in Oz will include GST (10% IIRC). This should be deducted before they charge your card with the payment.

Shipping can be organised from here if necessary, and international shipping should be zero rated for VAT and duty.

HOWEVER
The price of the goods should be uplifted by the shipping cost to the EC border before duty is calculated, and then VAT is due on the cost of the goods, on all of the shipping, and the duty.

Careful with arranging shipping from here, as some companies charge VAT to a domestic customer as a matter of course, which in your circumstances is wrong.

There's plenty of Harrop dealers, so if one doesn't want to deal with you, find another one that does.

Thanks chaps.
This is exactly what I thought about Harrop dealers.

I spoke to Harrop in Melbourne (HQ?) and been offered the product for $1660 per exhaust, but no shipping price has been established for the last two weeks. Spoke to Tekno Performance in QLD, and they offer the same product for $2200, and want $1600 in shipping. They claim they can't buy themselves at the price I had been offered...
A little bit disappointed with Harrop taking long , or being unwilling...
