Just bought an S2. Looking for advice…
Discussion
Can anyone recommend a good repair shop where I could get my new toy fixed. Preferably Scotland or Northern England.
I have recently purchased a crash damaged S2 Lotus Elise 111S, 2004 model.
I’m now looking to buy the following:
Front Clam Shell and plastic inserts (the little black grille things on the air ducts)
Front lights and indicators
Radiator
Wing mirrors
The plastic/fibreglass structure bonded on the front of the chassis
Hard top (what sort of price should I pay?)
Are there any Elise experts out there that I could ask specific questions to? I wouldn’t want to buy a second hand 2003 clamshell and then find it didn’t fit my 2004 Elise.
Are there any good websites where I could purchase new or second hand parts, and get advice?
Are there any kits that allow you to shorten the gear leaver on an S2 Elise? I’m six foot four and my leg is bit close to the gear stick.
Thanks for any help you can offer. Much appreciated!

From the sounds of it you are looking at quite a lot of cash for that little lot. A new front clam is going to come in at over a grand including painting and fitting.
General opinion is that you dont really need a hard top on an S2 unless its for security. The roof is easy to put on / take off compared with the S1 which is a complete PITA
I would suggest having a work with Gill at Sinclaires who are well thought of for repairs. They are Lotus specialists but not main dealers so you get a top service but without the main dealer labour rates
I take it you had the chassis checked before you bought it?

have a look on ebay for bits - www.eliseparts.com also (they do the gear lever kit too)
