I would like to have a shot at hillclimbing (bucket list etc,) Budget limited and thinking one of road-going classes. Would anyone recommend a good car for starting off in hillclimbing? Clio 172/182s look to be a good choice? (If you're racing you're not going to notice the rattles anyway.) Perhaps an RX8 which hasn't died of rotor tip failure? Life attraction to Volvos (yeah, bit hard to understand I know) makes me fancy a turbo Volvo, out of the fact it'd be a bit different, but I guess it'd get royally hammered by BMWs in the same classes.

All thoughts would be welcome, if they're polite and measured!

A 1.3l RX8 might be quite handy in its class
