It was with great trepidation, and no small measure of disbelief, that I clicked on the link from that article...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aero-Hump-Pocket-aerodynam...

...pretty much expecting some sort of obvious scam by a long lost Nigerian cousin, or a big "April Fool!" banner. But no. Turns out it's a real "thing" that you can own in exchange for parting with some of your cash. eek Wow!

As if I don't look enough of a doofus riding round the countryside in my 'Team PistonHeads' Lycra™ outfit, now I can sew some foam into my shirt and do a passable "ham actor" version of Richard III at the same time...

Of course most Ebay sellers will have their own wind tunnel, CFD cluster and team of aerodynamicists to analyse, refine and validate the 5%/10W figure...

Someone's been watching MotoGP!

They use similar lumps in Motobike racing because between the bubble screen, their helmet and the hump it creates a decent aero shape - I can't seeing it working nearly as well on a push-bike, especially at push-bike speeds.

It will work. But 5% is probably too much. I reckon a decent TT helmet fit is less than 15 w at much higher speeds than 20mph
