Looks like a couple of Tesla only bays in addition to the electric only bays in South Mimms. Do they sponsor this and pay the services owners or are there yet more subsidies flying about. Seems a bit elitist really when one leccy car trumps another leccy car, as if they (we) don't have enough baseless superiority already wink

There's a whole bank of them at Hopwood Park, M42 Jn 2. Taken many of the parent and entitled sprog places with prime parking spots. Seems good to meet. Pity don't have a Tesla, though model X looks tempting. Even man maths won't be that flexible unfortunately.

But don't teslas use different chargers to other EVs? In which case it would be no use putting EV on the bay as it needs to be clearly marked as only suitable for teslas.
(scratchchin Wonders if I can get an adaptor to use teslas superchargers on the DC socket in my outlander)
This may become more of an issue as more EVs come on the market with differing charging requirements.

Maybe they are different but I have a 10m cable and it'll reach to a spare slot on a nearby charge head.

Regarding adapters I imagine all sorts of comms between car and charge point for analytics and telemetry. If I was running a new tech company like Tesla and wanted to stand ahead of the crowd I'd be collecting every last byte of usage information possible. I imagine the charger needs to satisfy some sort of protocol rather than just being a power socket.

At the moment it's not possible to charge anything other than Tesla at the superchargers, but Tesla say they are in discussion with a European manufacturer about sharing charger facilities. European but not German apparently.

Forgot to mention at Hopwood there are two normal EV charging points, Ecotricity, must be about 5 Tesla superchargers. Sorry just checked, there are 6.

If other car manufacturers can't be bothered to finance and install their own charging system then it isn't Tesla's fault.

This is the big difference between Tesla and conventional car companies - Tesla see the whole thing as their responsibility whereas others like Nissan, Volkswagen, Renault etc. make the cars but view the infrastructure as something that governments and other companies should be doing. That isn't working out too well for them with fragmented, slow charging networks which demand multiple payment cards and are often in a poor state of repair.

A large part of Tesla's success is the amazing realibity and speed of their Rapid Chargers.

I cannot see Tesla allowing any one else access to their charging network anytime soon, it's their USP, along with more range, and better performance than any other EV on the market.

I cannot wait to upgrade my Leaf to a Model S/X. The price of entry is high, but worth the premium.

Was at the Channel Tunnel yesterday and I see Tesla have got a couple of charging points there now as well.
