The most important thing is to really sell your passion for engineering.
So for example, say that your dream is to work in formula one, you know that because you once saw a car and can't live without the pride of having designed one., or something like that.
Mine was full of complete bulls
t, like "Since a young age I've loved taking things apart to find out how they work and understanding the principles behind them. I even find fixing my bicycle fun!" Blah blah
But it worked...
You also want to take about all the extra things you do, for example voluntary work if you've done any, relevant hobbies. If you're part of a team or member of a club they want to know about that.
I tried to find mine but no idea where it is, if I come across it I'll PM it to you!

Basically, it's a lot of bullst blowing smoke up your own arse and full of phrases that you would never use in real life.
Pub talk = I'd like to design and build cars
Personal statement = Ultimately I would like towards being in a position where I can take on the challenge of constructing an all new automobile from the ground up. My skill set means I would be able to offer a complete turn key solution to the project from the initial design and consultation phase, through to modelling and prototyping, and final engineering and testing prior to launch. Working with so many people through the process will play to my strengths as a team player as well as a strong leader, while being able to deliver a complete project will give me an immense level of personal satisfaction.
