Mad road rage incident!
Discussion
Been down to Hatfield to my Cadet unit tonight, and on the way home in Convoy up the M1 with another member of staff who lives in Milton Keynes. We're on the phone having a natter about the goings on of the evening, and I pull off at J12, he continues to J13 to go along the A421 (I think), when he comes up to three cars, empty road, so overtook.
All the time i'm on the phone (both of us hands free of course) when I hear a massive horn blast. Turns out of the three cars he was overtaking, the middle one pulled right out in front of him during the overtake without indication, doing about 20mph less than him. Cue massive decrease in speed, whereupon the bloke thats pulled out overtakes the front car, and stays in the oncoming lane. Mate pulls in behind him, although not close, and bloke in front promptly brake tests him! Mate thinks nows a good time to get out of the situation, overtakes, and is gone, with bloke in other car giving it full coffee beans.
I'm still on the phone, and we're having a moan about some of the drivers on todays roads, as he reverses into his drive in front of his garage, when;
'Oh
, he's followed me home'
'He's parked right across the driveway, shouting out of his window'
'Reg number is **** DDU' (cue me scribbling rapidly, as i'm now also in my driveway)
'I'm going for a drive around'
As he pulls over the grass to get out of his driveway, and unfortunately up a cul-de-sac. Gets to the top, turns around and bloke in other car is now straight in front of him. As he goes past, a fist comes out of the window and hits my mates car.
'
this, i'm doing 999'
Phone goes off. I'm only 10ish miles down the road, mainly dual carriageway, so think, i'll go make sure he's ok, and off I go....
As i'm about a minute away, mate calls me. It turns out, he drove around for five minutes while on the phone to the police. Their advice was if it happens again, drive to a police station. No details taken, no taking down of the reg number that was offered, nothing. He came back, all clear, parked in his drive again, got out to go to the front door, when nutter in the other car jumped out of the bushes next to his front door, ranting, generally threatening;
'What the
do you think you're doing, I was in front of you, it was my right of way'
'I was in the middle of an overtake, you didn't look or indicate, I was the one that had to slow down to avoid hitting you!'
'I'm a lorry driver, I know what i'm doing, i'm gonna
have you. I should have you here and now, no-one does that to me'
'Look, if i've upset you, then sorry, but you were in the wrong. Lets just call it quits'
'I should knock you out right now, people like you shouldn't be on the road'
Mate goes inside with bloke ranting outside his house. Then he decided he wasn't getting anywhere, so went. I'm within a minute of his house, and he wants to get outside and check his car etc, so I get him to wait inside as I arrive and have a swift drive around. Nothing to be seen, so I hang around while he puts his car in his garage, before coming home.
His major concern is his family and his property, nutter knows where he lives, knows his car, and is obviously capable of causing some sort of damage. Police didn't seem to want to know, but he's worried about any revenge bricks through windows etc that may come as a result of this, as his wife and daughter are at home most days.
Any suggestions from BiB as to a follow up of any kind? Not a lot he can do to stop him coming back, but i'd certainly have thought some action was needed, somehow....
Any to top it all, I get back to my road in Leighton Buzzard, and theres some bloke peering over back garden fences - I take a drive around and he jumps in a bush so head back to my drive. I see him walk up the road, walk back, walk up, walk back, get into a nearby parked car (no number visible from where I was) and drive up another cul-de-sac off my road, and park up. A guy four doors up has been done over before, car and electricals gone, could this be an attempted repeat, and should I call it in, bearing in mind this is an hour ago, and i'm going to go for a swift walk up the road for a look-see......
Cheers! Tony.

Hmm, just been 'to get something from the car', and bloke up my road is in a car, a light Citroen ZX, up the cul-de-sac still, about 6 doors up. While I was outside, he started the engine, lights off, went up the road, turned around, came back, parked up behind an mpv, and turned the engine off.
Have called it in to local ops room - got a weird feeling about this.....
Was going to be such an early night...!

How absolutely bizzare!
I've just come back in from a chat with BiB - within seconds of my typing the last post, a panda rolled into the road, so had a quick peek outside the front door, and he was chatting to the driver of the car in question. Gave it a few minutes, and panda driver got back in his car. All in order I thought, came back up to the computer, and there's another panda blocking the road. Then the phone goes, asking me if it was definitely a Citroen I saw. Could have sworn it was a light ZX, but 200m away, in street lighting.
BiB says he doesn't want to go into too much detail, thanks for the call and all, but its some guy having an affair with a woman down the road from me, and he was waiting for the husband to go out! He too saw the guy in question nip into the bushes, and called for backup. Turns out the guy is completely legit, and has escorted him to his lovers door!
Feel a bit of a prat, plod saw it as a bit of a laugh, but better to be safe than sorry I guess...!

But just think what a prat the other bloke feels. Nice and cosy, but slightly nervous, sat in his car waiting for a chance to shag another bloke's wife and the BiB turn up

You could get Mr Nutters home address by writing to the DVLA for a nominal fee. (say he hit you in a car park!! ) If you then turn up on his doorstep where his family live, there's a status quo

I'm sure BiB will disagree with my suggestion, but it's an option.
OOOO Mr Bliar out, you scurrilous gentleman.
I had to have my index number blocked for this very reason following me dealing with a very nasty criminal who ended up going to prison as a result of the jobs, and tic's that were accounted for by said person.
He wrote a nice letter to Mr DVLA who kindly sent him my home address.....

Do you know Mike,
Over the past year I have been involved in the most bloody awful constant battles with the DVLA for myself and representing others.
They are beyond all doubt the worst bureacratic authority I have ever had the misfortune to come across; and the Government keeps on giving them more and more power; they even have the police force at their disposal with ANPR cameras.
They constantly and blatantly make collossal errors resulting in prosecutions being brought against totally innocent parties and it is virtually impossible to pin down the actual individual responsible when this happens.
Bloody disgraceful!
Must admit, it made me quite mad. My family had to go through a lot, and even though nothing happened you do worry about kids, wife etc, especially when on night duty.
Onto this thread, I see nothing wrong with reporting a sus vehicle, no matter what the circumstances, any BIB worth his / her salt would never complain about checking such things out. Even if it is a chap carrying on with another woman
Hope all is ok for the future in relation to the mad chap knowing your mate's home address. It may be a thought to rig some sort of cctv, you can buy them quite cheaply now, and if something happens at least he has some evidence in order for the police to prosecute.
Mike.

Devious, moi?
I've even got a sister who's an inspector and I still can't get a PNC check done. At least she's above board
Busy night you had.
Personally I would always call stuff like that in. When I lived at my old place on a summer Saturday very late at night (3am?) I heard all sorts of banging down by the garages. Looking out of the window I could see 2 blokes messing around, and all teh time this metallic banging (like trying to break into a garage).
Called BiB, and 2 of them legged it through to the garage after these blokes. Eventually, BiB went off after a chat and blokes disappeared.
Called the station the next day to find out WTF had happened - turned out it was one of my neighbours and a mate - came home from pub absolutely steaming and decided to do some kick boxing in the garage!
what a pratt! BiB said they were glad I called it in as there're lots of garage break ins around here.
As to your other problem, make sure the police have a record of your call and that you have a crime number. Not a pleasant experience I am sure, had similar myself but managed to lose the nutter. Why do these people actually believe they are in the right and take such affront at being accused of being wrong?

Do you know Iolaire I thought about the above comment when the VED reminder came for SWMBO's car.
On the back of the envelope it says "If undelivered please do NOT return to sender"
Now to put this in context almost every day do we get post through our door which is CLEARLY NOT for us. Basically due to a) correctly addressed but wrongly delivered, b) incorrectly addressed, as in wrong number, c) no longer at this address and finally d) not an effing clue who they are.
This got so bad at one point we started to worry about identity theft / scammers in operation.
Anyway the point is that the DVLA records could be utter garbage and actively the do not want to know. Equally according to law in certain cases something sent first class post is considered to have been served.
Not good enough HM Government.

is that why you now seem to change your car on a weekly basis
You can download the official NON FEE paying enquiry FORM from their website, VQ XX ? and at the bottom you must write why you want this info and sign it. It states clearly that it is an offence to request information with an untrue reason. By Offence I think that means a magistrate would take a dim view ?

Mine came yesterday - that instruction on the back was the first thing I noticed.
Madness it is - so the DVLA's records are incorrect (suprise) and the reminder goes to the wrong address. How do you find out? When you have to jump through hoops to renew your tax.
Surely the DVLA should put "if undelivered, please return to us ASAP so we can sort out the bl00dy mess that is our database"?
