Parking Ticket Appeal
Discussion
Wife recieved a ticket for not displaying her parking disc about two weeks ago. She bought her £1 disc ages ago but on this particular morning arrived slightly late for her class (she runs a local running club within the town) and forgot to place it on the dash (left it on her passenger seat). She bumped into the traffic warden on her return and he apologised saying he could see her disc but she hadn't displayed it correctly. She went on to tell him about working with the local community and how she visited the town at least four times a week and this was the first time she had forgot to display etc, etc, but he said as the ticket had been issued nothing he could do. He told her to appeal the ticket and said he would confirm, which he did, that she indeed had an up to date parking disc, so wife appealed.
Two weeks later (today) she received a reply saying they have rejected her appeal. They mentioned the traffic wardens comments and agreed that she had a valid up to date disc. The rejection is due to her not displaying the time she arrived and because the car park is a maximum three hour free stay, they couldn't confirm how long she had been there, so she paid her ticket today.
Firstly I know it was her fault, as does she, but, there excuse for the rejection makes no sense. The free parking starts at 08.00hr and her parking ticket was issued at 10.12hr meaning she still had 48 mins free parking, irrelevant of the time she entered. Traffic warden also confirmed she had a valid disc at the scene before 1100hr that morning
Sorry for boring everyone but the question is, is it worth appealing their rejection due to the abnormally long winded explanation above, remembering she has also paid the ticket?

So, ignoring all the irrelevance about how much good she does for the community etc, etc....
There is 3 hours free parking, and the time this 3 hour period starts is 0800?
If that is the case, why is the warden issuing tickets before 11am.
You've probably muddied the waters completely by saying anything other than the fact you were well within their clearly defined period of free parking. Having paid the fine will also complicate things.
Edit... But if the terms of gaining this 3 hour free parking are that you must display a disc with your arrival time on it, and she didn't.... Then you've not complied with the terms and should pay the fine.

Yes this is correct. Wife suggested the traffic warden convinced her, she would be okay to appeal once he had viewed her valid disc. I suppose he said it to get rid of her
Still riles me though, £25 fine for leaving a valid disc on the seat instead of dashboard without the appropriate time displayed even though it was free parking.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
