Problems with the reversing sensor

today I was coming out of a car parking sport and the reversing sensor was adamant that there was something close behind me, got out to look and there was nothing. But the screen was showing all the red markers to tell me that there was something slap bang in the middle. I've never had this before. It is a VXR8 6.0 auto and was curious if anyone on here has ever had any problems with their reversing sensor and if there is a fix.

I get this sometimes. Other times the beeps don't work at all while the back of the car is almost touching a wall or some other solid object.

It seems to be a thing which comes and goes more often when it gets cold and damp.

latest update, went out today, put it in reverse, gear engaged, but the reverse screen didnt even come on, gets stranger and stranger

are revering lamps ok and working ??

yer they came on, used it today and it worked fine, i think its one of those gremlins of the car

A few weeks ago my VXR8 stopped the reversing picture and beeps going. restarted still broken. Next day all fine and has been since. As you say Gremlin, hopefully never to return

Park assist will not work at all unless the handbrake is all the way off.

Anyway, I'm getting the long bleep, all red centre bars on the display, does this
indicate a sensor problem or anyone else find different ?
