Car ready to come back from service

They inform me the car shows a lifetime VMAX (I've had the car since new) of 185 MPH and childishly, it just made me grin

I'm honestly not sure where I did that - I don't think I will have got much past 165ish at Spa although I wasn't looking at the speedo that much, I don't think Silverstone (where I never looked at the speedo) will have had any moments any quicker than Spa (?) and I didn't think I ever quite got that quick at VMAX which I did once not long after getting the car. Those with better experience of Spa/Silverstone may have a good idea of what realistic top speeds can be hit there by a modern V12 Aston

If it wasn't at any of those places, must have been on a long straight stretch of motorway in Italy last year....................

Jonby, when did you last use the meet and greet facility at Manchester Airport ??

Remember the computers on these cars aren't calibrated to an actionable level wink

Maybe the dealer you bought it from bedding it in nicely after the PDI before handover?

This makes me think of the parking valet scene in Ferris Beuller's Day Off

Interestingly when I bought my V12V the VMAX was showing something which I deemed outrageously high, of the 185 magnitude, which cast a shadow of doubt into my mind about what the previous owner had been doing with it, but then I thought realistically whether this was the case. Now I'm wondering if that's how the they leave the factory if the VMAX has never been reset?

Can you please ask the garage where they get this information from? Is yours a V12 with a Bosch ECU?

Indeed :-(

I've just double checked my records and in an email to a friend, I refer to hitting the low 180s repeatedly at VMAX so I'm guessing it must have been then - I did;t remember hitting those speeds because of birdgate ! I didn't think I'd quite got it as fast as it could go when I had to stop because of my new friend.....

Shame because i'm loving some of the alternative ideas in this thread :-)

As for Spa, I can't be sure, but I was getting well into the 150s before the end of the day and I had an instructor with me for the whole day so we were just getting faster and faster - I had about 3 hours on track in 6 35 minute sessions - as I say, can't be sure what i eventually got up to

fairly sure they said they had seen it elsewhere as part of their check but that I could check on the sat nav as per the impressive photo posted earlier. Maybe I'm mistaken and they looked at the sat nav too, but I can't think why they would do that

Incase anyone doesn't know how. On the map screen, highlight the current speed and press enter.
I didn't know until it was mentioned on this forum some time ago. Surprisingly most dealer staff I've met are unaware of this.

Thanks for this Brent. Last time you posted up your 199mph Vmax picture I tried to find it in the menus and couldn't. Have just looked and unfortunately mine has been zeroed since it was owned by Darren Turner - I wonder why? biggrinyikes

Is this feature only on the later cars with Garmin, or could I find it on a MY 2009 version with (I think) the HDD?

I think it is a feature with the Garmin sat nav. i wasn't aware of it until we did our PDC at Hillbrook and the instructor told us about it. Our figures are pathetic compared to those quoted here getmecoat

I am sure you were wink. Especially if you crested that little uphill section at say 115 - 120 smile. The run UP to Les Combes is uphill 5th gear and even the Mighty V12 is working hard to increase speed going uphill. Professional driver / tuition I would guess roughly 158 according to some datalogging that may or may not have been dug up from somewhere whistle

The 199mph reading is a default or something. Mine also had 199mph as the setting and it wasn't me... smile
