I am about to take the plunge and get a Vantage but wanted to ask the Aston owners on here how does their cars clutch hold up in traffic jams. I have a 20 mile Bath to Bristol drive which is start stop, steering wheel taping journey and takes 80 minutes! I spoke to one local V12 V owner who doesn't use his as a daily driver but said his gives the burn fragrance when in queue do you folks have similar or not? Cheers.

I drive mine around London and it's perfectly fine. You will get tyre pressure warnings after about half an hour, which you can ignore and they will pass.

It's down to the individual. I have spent many hours in traffic jams in a V12V and never smelt burnt clutch, not once.

My V12 clutch is infinitely more well behaved than either of the previous V8's. I'm full of confidence in it.

I use mine as a daily driver and spend a lot of time in queues and have never smelt burning clutch, not even on hills. I can't imagine how it would be possible to abuse the clutch in a queue of traffic to the point where it caused a burning smell.

Never any mechanical issues in my V12 in London traffic. It is however the only time I ever wish I had sportshift. It was terrible the other week after running a half marathon, I could barely put the clutch in but that's my own stupid fault.

As someone who commutes around the Bristol and Bath area in a V12V, your friend is doing it wrong! The V8V I had before could be a bit stinky, but only when reversing slowly/up inclines.

I was driving back from Edinburgh on the weekend, and as the M6 was a car park, I won't lie and say an auto of some type didn't seem appealing, but I wouldn't have any concerns about a commute.

Mines fine also. Got stuck in some awful traffic the other day, 45 mins of crawling, stop start traffic. No smell of burning clutch or any other signs it was struggling. Mines a manual, I tend not to use any accelerator in that scenario, just let the torque of the engine get me off the line. My car is now 56k miles on the original clutch
