993 Targa Manual...purchase tips?
Discussion
I'm currently Porsche-less having sold my last car in readiness for my long awaited GT4 delivery. I may have been a little over zealous in selling it because my GT4 has now been delayed from December 15 to February/March 16.
I'm now thinking that perhaps a 993 Targa (always liked the Targa), may be fun for 4 or 5 months while I wait. The Targa also seems to be quite well priced compared to some other 993 options.
In the past I have been put off by the large fluctuations in market value on what appear similar cars and also my lack of knowledge on possible issues etc. I'm hoping someone can give me a few pearls of wisdom or perhaps point me in the direction of a buyers guide?
Any assistance appreciated.
Thanks.

Not the best for winter use? Although some do, used to pass a 993 RS every morning regardless. Wouldn't want to buy one that had been in the salt though.
I was mindful of the same...maybe we'll have a VERY mild winter It'll only be used on dry weekends (assuming we have some), and now seems a decent opportunity to try one while I'm without a car.

They are great machines and I put 65k miles on mine when I owned it. Other than the usual 993 foibles, have a search around for issues with the roof and sun blind. While water tight, in my day creaking from the glass roof would sometimes be annoying - easily solved with some oil, grease. The sun blind eating itself, while uncommon (imo) can happen and would require several hours labour to fix and put right. Good luck!I'm now thinking that perhaps a 993 Targa (always liked the Targa), may be fun for 4 or 5 months while I wait.
