As the title says I'd like to now of any warranty implication if I where to have a Sharkwerks exshaust fitted to my 991 GT3. I love everything about the car except the sound when the cars travelling at slower speeds.. Even with the valve open I find it a bit dissapointing. I'd also like to know the costs involved with having this supplied and fitted or any other possibilities.

Many thanks in advance
Dean Gibson.

Generally with the warranty i have found that should there be a failure which is in some way attached to your modification then they will try and refuse it but if the failure is completely unrelated it will be honoured.

Depends on which OPC deals with you. For me the gains on that particular don't warrant the risks to a warranty claim as it must be still pretty new. Also when I borrows a GTS for the day I though the exhaust in sports plus mode was pretty epic. Have you got sports plus?

Have you tried disconnecting the plug so the valves are open permanently?

991 GTS or 991 GT3?

Warranty wise (remember this is the manufacturers warranty, not extended insurance backed warranty which has a completely different set of rules) any modification you carry out will not be covered by the warranty. Obviously if you fit a modified exhaust that part will have a warranty from the supplier. If your car had an issue and Porsche could PROVE that it was caused by the installation of the modified part then your warranty may be void (dependent on your relationship with your OPC) but it has to be proven. If for instance you had a gearbox, suspension, trim, electrical, engine issue then it would be unrelated and therefore not an issue and still fully covered by the manufacturer warranty. If you had an issue with an exhaust part (manifold, cat, sensor) then the dealer could argue that it was related to your modified bypass pipe and then they might have more cause to refuse the claim but this would indicate a poor relationship with the customer.

I have had at least 3 UK customers who have had their OPC install their Sharkwerks bypass pipes on 991 GT3's with no issue. Another customer who had an engine issue (now on number 3!) had the OPC remove the Sharkwerks prior to Porsche UK coming out to inspect his car with no issue. As has been said before it does depend on the relationship with your OPC and a level of common sense.

What I can say is that if it is a 991 GT3 you own the Sharkwerks bypass pipe sounds epic and gives the car the glorious noise usually only enjoyed at high RPM at a much lower road-like and more used lower RPM range. Sharkwerks bypass pipes are stocked here in the UK.

991 GTS with the PSE sounds pretty good to start with at most RPM.

with all the engine issue the GT3 has I would not be fitting one, the GT3 sound is loud enough any way, just unplug the flaps so they are open at lower speeds as they do close.

Again GTS is loud enough at 122 DB
