I was considering setting up an EMI scheme for the employees in one of my businesses. My understanding is that an accountant and the HMRC agree a value of the business at the date of granting the options, the scheme is registered and lawyers setup the individual contracts.

I have had approximate costs for the accounting side varying from £1K to over £10K

What is a sensible budget or does this depend on other factors?

I am setting up a scheme for a structural engineering client to lock-in 1 senior employee. I have a specialist scheme writer as a resource and he is writing the agreements whilst I client face and do the HMRC valuation side.

No need to use a lawyer in my opinion and I am an FCA.

Total cost, inc all the associated bits such as new articles of association etc is £6k approx.

Drop me a Pm if you want to have a chat.
