Just signed up for Telewest's 3 in ne package, (TV, phone and internet) and need to connect wirelessly to the PC.

Any suggestions for a wireless router that will connect to their set top box? I was about to buy a netgear dg834g, but no longer need the modem bit of it, so presume other netgear stuff is equally good?.. I'll need something to pick up the signal at the PC too and I'm guessing a PCI card would be a better bet than a usb dongle..

I had a DG834M until last week - the adsl modem died, but the network is still ok. Now changed to a d-link DSL604G - what a pain in the bum to set up compared to the netgear. I would have bought another netgear but I needed a replacement as soon as possible (On Call for Work) and the d-link was all that was available at very short notice.

If anyone wants the old netgear just for the wireless/ethernet for the price of postage, drop me a line.

Another vote for DG834G & Netgear stuff in general. Not had to reset my router for about 8 weeks now (last time was firmware update)

has the firmware update made a better differance to the 834G?
I too have one, its been running now for about 9 months, only switch it off once when we went on holiday, came back turned it on work straight away. Can't fault it.

It's only the beta update on the website - not that recent IIRC. I only updated because the connection between my eMac and the router kept on dropping out when using WPA (didn't affect my XP laptop), but the update fixed that particular problem. The range appears to be the same & not noticed any other differences

Netgear WGR614v5 54Mbps or WGU624 ultra 108 with dual 802.11a and 802.11g radios (less interference in 802.11a band)

....Linksys is owned by Cisco ....thats all ....you dont get anything in a Linksys product that has anything to do with Cisco other than the label
