Blue tooth connection

Delete any and all phones saved on the car's memory first, ensure discoverability is set to 'auto'.
Start the car and do a bluetooth search from the phone (not the car). You'll need to do this within a couple of minutes of starting the car.
This is generally the most reliable way to do it. If that's a no go and other phones behave normally it could well be a firmware issue. Your dealer will be able to tell you if the MMI software version in your car is the latest.
